About us

We are a family of cat lovers who have been blessed with the opportunity to adopt many stray cats through the years. It all started when we found a small kitten wandering on the street, cold and hungry. We couldn’t leave her there, so we brought her home. From that moment on, our love for cats grew and we couldn’t resist adopting more.

Most of our cats were found on the streets, sick and in need of care. But with love and patience, we were able to nurse them back to health. Currently, we have four cats. Our youngest cat, Oliver, was diagnosed with rickets but with proper nutrition and supplements, he is thriving now.

Taking care of these cats has been a labor of love, but the joy they bring to our lives is immeasurable. Our cats are not just pets, they are members of our family.

We created this website to share our love for cats and to provide valuable information for other cat lovers. Thank you for visiting and we hope you enjoy our content!

MAX THE GREY

How the sad-eyed kitten became the fearless Max the Grey

Max was born sometime in early October 2018 (assumption of the veterinarian), but how he ended up in our neighborhood is unknown. What we do know is that one neighbor found him somewhere and kept him for a couple of days in her apartment, and then, probably because of her own obligations as well as the kitten’s needs which she could not fulfill – she simply threw him into the street. And completely “forgotten” about him.

The grey kitten remained in our neighborhood hidden under a car and in the garden fences, mewing all day long. It was hungry, exhausted and scared. Several times we brought him food and tried to catch him, but without success – it was always faster and well hidden! Then, after three days of mewing and sleeping in the cold – it was left without voice and… without strength. It was 12th December 2018 when we found him, completely exhausted and placed him into our warm apartment.

We immediately took him to a veterinarian who said that he was in a relatively good state of health – but that he was quite starved, exhausted and traumatized. And so, our gray kitten since then, ate and slept for the next 24 hours on the couch in the living room. It’s got a name: Max (because he’s a boy :))!

Max did not show any interest for playing even after 24 hours of rest and good food, so we suspected that he may have gotten sick. We took him again to the veterinarian and he was to discover that Max had a fever that should be treated by injections. Max handled everything like a true hero. For a couple of days he was just laying, he could not get on his back legs, but he survived. He quickly adjusted to living in a apartment with other cats living there as well. From an exhausted, skinny kitten with sad eyes – he turned into a lively little bad guy who makes mischiefs all day long.

We occasionally photograph him and publish on Facebook and Instagram and we are happy to share with you his active everyday life!

P.S. – You must be wondering what happened to the neighbor? She denied she got rid of the grey kitten – but then admitted and asked to take him back so “she could return him where she found him in the first place”. That was an option that did not come into consideration because: Never trust a person who is lying! That way our little grey kitten would finish who knows where… So, in fact, we should be grateful for this new situation that occurred and this wonderful and dynamic creature that brings so much joy and happiness into our home!

FAMILY

FIONA MAY

The Cat Princess

The story of Fiona May begins in Darlington, on a property where a dear lady lives and who has 20 cats to make her company. In fact, there are two cats living in the house, while the others are street cats, “garden” to be precise. They regularly come to her door for two or three meals a day and play in the yard, where they feel safe.

Among them, in August 2018, a new little kitten appeared, as white as snow. It did not fight for food or seek special attention. Instead, when all the other cats had finished eating, the kitten would come up front and pick up the crumbs, looking to be as insignificant as possible and then spent the rest of the day hiding around the house. The good lady who fed the cats, with the eye of an experienced connoisseur, estimated that the kitten was born in May, and that is why the little kitten received the nickname May.

As the months went by, May did not grow much (except for her fur) and stuck to her old ways: Eating the last remaining crumbs, while not being too crazy about cat food – she loved homemade food much more. By all her moves she showed that she belonged to either the aristocratic circles or the hippies – there was no third option.

On January 9th 2019, Max’s family payed a visit to the dear lady in Darlington and heard the story of this special disappearing kitten, that prefers to eat different kinds of food, and when the days get too cold, it knocks on the door to get a little warm. Then they came to the decision that Max needed  the company of his peers and that May would be an ideal companion, since Max shows signs of a true aristocrat as well as a hippie …

May was then put in a transport container (she struggled a bit to go in) and taken to a new family environment where she could be at home in a warm house all the time, had company and cooked, homemade food. But, alas, May was so scared that it took her three whole weeks to relax and start communicating with the other cats – Max and Ella. Due to her hiding through the day she got the name: Fiona – upon the Princess Fiona of Shrek, who also had the habit hiding at night. In order to better adapt to the new environment, she got a special cardboard box with food and water in front of her so she could hide when she wanted. At last, after three weeks, she accepted the family gradually.

Today, Fiona May is the equal as well as the loudest member of the family’s cats. She always has an opinion of her own and likes to comment on everything – she rarely stays silent on any topic. She adores Max, she loves to play with grass for hours, and of course is still a big fan of the local cuisine – she rather eats what the family eats than cat food. She has long white fur, short legs and is very clumsy. When you take her into your arms, it feels like taking a soft, hairy pillow that talks to you all the time. We also tried to find some information about her origin, and you can take a look at a part of it on the pages of Maxopedia.

TOMMY LEE

It’s not easy to be famous, especially like me.

Tommy Lee had really exciting days as a kitten. No one can say with certainty where he was and what he was up to for two and a half months, but what we do know and what is definitively not a legend is that he started his “career” on a very high pine on which he squatted for two days because of a big dog that was hanging out underneath it. He twitched and mewed continuously. All of that twitching and mewing on such a tall tree already made it possible for good connoisseurs to point out that the future of Tommy Lee would be bright and rich.

Tommy Lee was removed from the tree and since then, his dizzy climb began. With nice manners and always being sophisticated – he became a favorite member of the family who adopted him. When he showed his preference for modeling – photographers literally fought over him. This fact spoiled him a bit so he began to show a certain egocentric side. Some would even say narcissism. But when someone has such a nice look and manners – everything is forgiven to him.

He likes to say things such as:

  • I love me and only me.
  • It’s not easy to be me – especially when it comes to beauty.
  • Do you need anything else in your life except to watch me and admire me?

Lola (Oliver)

Oliver, better known as Lola, is our cat with an incredible story of resilience and strength. He was found on the steps of our entrance one day, gazing into the distance, unaware that this moment would change not only his life but ours as well. Some children found him and brought him to our entrance. He was an irresistibly cute kitten that meowed only when held, and silence would overtake him when he felt the ground beneath his paws. His curiosity and innocence caught our attention, as well as the curiosity of a dog lurking nearby. We quickly adopted him, rescuing him from potential danger, and immediately took him for a check-up, where the vet confirmed he was very young and, fortunately, healthy.

However, Lola didn’t have an easy start to his kittenhood. After a few joyful weeks of play and companionship, he faced serious health issues, difficulty walking, and painful seizures, later revealed to be caused by parasites (although he had received parasite paste when he first visited the vet – he was too young for a tablet). His condition was complicated, with symptoms including almost epileptic seizures, leading to consideration of epilepsy therapy. Refusing to confine him to constant medical treatment, we turned to alternative methods and a special diet in the hope of easing his condition.

His battle with rickets, a consequence of a severe parasite infection, further complicated his recovery. Lola spent the first winter battling illness, lung inflammation, sneezing, and coughing up blood, but with the arrival of spring and warm sunny days, his recovery began to accelerate.

Sunbathing and being outdoors had a miraculous effect on Lola. Gradually, his mobility improved, despite the permanent deformities. Lola began to explore, run around, and even play with other cats, demonstrating incredible spirit and a will to live. By the end of summer, he transformed from a weak kitten into an energetic, happy cat, ready for new adventures.

Now, in February 2024, Lola is the picture of health, although with visible traces of his struggle. His unique walk and distinctive appearance only add to his charm. Lola is proof that love, patience, and dedication can overcome even the most challenging obstacles. He hasn’t just survived – he is thriving, enjoying each day with gratitude and joy, becoming an inseparable and beloved part of our family.
